Executive Summary
Swaps on Utila now combine token approval and swap execution in one atomic transaction, with gas paid by a nominated sponsor wallet. Teams can initiate the swap as a single action in the interface, subject to their existing approval workflow.
The underlying Sponsored EVM Transactions and EVM Delegated Calls capabilities also support bundled actions through our API. Payments, trading, and treasury teams can simplify onchain execution and centralize gas funding while applying existing policies to each call.
Swaps in a Single Action
An onchain token swap often involves two transactions: approving a contract to spend your tokens, then executing the swap. Operations teams have to manage both steps and ensure the sending wallet has enough native asset to pay for gas.
Swaps on Utila now bring approval and execution together in one atomic transaction. A sponsor wallet you nominate covers the gas, so the sending wallet can complete the swap without holding native asset for fees.
Bundling the calls also gives the swap a single execution outcome. If either call fails, both calls revert, preventing a newly submitted token approval from being left behind by a failed swap.
How Sponsored Bundling Works
Two capabilities power this flow on EVM chains that support EIP-7702:
Sponsored EVM Transactions: A nominated sponsor wallet can pay the gas for an EVM contract call.
EVM Delegated Calls: An ordered set of contract calls executes as one atomic transaction, with one sponsor covering gas for the bundle.
When a source wallet needs its initial EIP-7702 delegation, we include delegation to our audited delegate contract as part of the same submission. Utila handles the setup, so your team can use the capability through existing wallets.
What Changes for Your Team
Centralized gas funding. Any Utila-managed wallet or address in the same vault, funded with the chain’s native asset, can act as the sponsor. Your team maintains gas funding centrally, reducing wallet top-ups and the small residual native balances treasury needs to reconcile.
A single approval flow. Operators submit the combined action through their existing approval workflow. Engineering teams can bundle the calls in one API request, reducing the client-side logic needed to sequence token approval and swap execution.
Consistent policy enforcement. Your existing policy configuration applies to the bundled flow. EVM token approval rules, contract call rules with CEL parameter conditions, and mint and burn rules evaluate each applicable call using the same policy framework as standard transactions.
Beyond the Swap Flow
The same bundling capability supports other operations through the Utila API:
Bridging: Combine token approval and the bridge’s source-chain contract call in one transaction.
Yield entry: Combine token approval and deposit into a supported protocol.
Pull payments: Collect tokens from multiple wallets that have granted the required allowances into one destination through a bundle of transfer calls.
CCTP transfers: Combine approval and burn in one transaction on the source chain.
For cross-chain transfers, atomic execution covers the bundled source-chain calls. Destination-chain processing follows the relevant bridge or transfer protocol.
Get Started With Sponsored Swaps
One-click swaps are available in the Utila interface, and teams can use sponsored transactions and delegated calls through our API on supported EVM chains.
We’re extending support in the console and browser extension to manual sponsored calls, batch operations, and connections to dapps that implement EIP-5792 batched calls.
