Executive Summary

Managing TRX balances across sending wallets adds funding work and fragmented fee accounting to high volume USDT payouts on Tron. Utila Gas Station automates energy and bandwidth acquisition through a single USDT-funded vault balance, with savings of up to 70% compared with standard TRX burn costs. Your team can enable sponsored transfers through one API field, retain existing approval policies, and track detailed costs for each transfer.

Stalblecoin Operations on Tron

Tron is the primary rail for USDT transfers at scale. In 2025, $7.9 trillion in USDT moved over Tron, accounting for roughly 75% of all USDT transfers globally. For the fintechs, PSPs, and payment operators behind that volume, Tron's combination of speed, cost efficiency, and USDT liquidity makes it the default infrastructure for high volume stablecoin payments.

One of the operational requirements of running USDT transfers on Tron is managing network resources. Every TRC-20 transfer requires two types of network resources: energy and bandwidth. Without them, the Tron network deducts TRX directly from the sender's wallet as a fallback. That means every sending wallet needs a TRX balance, and teams managing large numbers of wallets across multiple clients end up maintaining TRX float across their entire wallet infrastructure. It also means TRX dust stranded across every wallet you've ever funded, and constant top-up work to keep operations running. Add in TRX price volatility, and the cost of running a high volume payout operation becomes harder to predict and control than it should be.

Today, Utila is introducing Gas Station: a managed fee service that handles Tron network resource acquisition automatically, so your team can execute USDT transfers without holding or routing TRX through any sending wallet.

What Gas Station Is and How It Works

Gas Station integrates directly into the existing Utila transaction flow. To initiate a sponsored transfer, you add a single sponsor field to your standard transfer request. That's the only change to your integration. The transfer then moves through your normal Utila workflow: policy screening, any required approvals, and signing. After signing, Utila coordinates with a configured third party energy provider to delegate the required energy and bandwidth to the sender's wallet. Once resources are confirmed onchain, the transfer publishes to the Tron network.

No TRX is deducted from the source wallet. Network fees are covered by Gas Station from a single, centralized vault balance.

You pre-fund the gas station balance by depositing to a deposit address Utila provisions when you enable Gas Station. Utila uses that balance to acquire energy and bandwidth on your behalf, handling the conversion and resource provisioning without any TRX on your sending wallets. Each completed transfer produces a full cost breakdown on the transaction object: energy cost, bandwidth cost, address activation cost if the destination is a new wallet, the TRX/USDT conversion rate applied, and total USDT charged. Nothing is debited until onchain verification confirms the resources were actually delivered.

Key Features

  • Zero TRX on any sending wallet. Fund your gas station balance with USDT. Utila uses it to rent the energy and bandwidth each transfer needs, so none of your sending wallets ever need to hold TRX.

  • Up to 70% cheaper than standard TRX burn. Gas Station sources energy and bandwidth from third party resource providers who stake large TRX pools and rent resources on demand. The economics of delegation consistently undercut the fallback TRX burn rate, with savings of up to 70% per transfer. Resource providers stake large TRX pools and delegate energy in bulk, which is structurally cheaper than individual wallets burning TRX on every transfer.

  • First deposit is covered by Utila to get you started. When you enable Gas Station, Utila covers your initial deposit so you can start sending USDT on Tron without needing to source TRX first.

  • No disruption to your existing workflow. Gas Station runs as an internal sub-process within the standard Utila transaction lifecycle. There are no new transaction statuses to handle in your integration. Resource provisioning happens in the background between signing and publishing, with webhook notifications and sub-status visibility available if you need them. Every transfer continues to follow your configured policy and approval flows exactly as before.

  • Full cost transparency. An estimate endpoint lets you preview the expected network fee before committing to a sponsored transfer. After each transfer, the complete cost breakdown is available on the transaction object and in the Utila console.

Who This Is Built For

Gas Station is built for teams running high volume USDT payouts on Tron: payment operators, PSPs, exchanges, and fintechs that need reliable, cost efficient transfers without running a TRX management operation in parallel.

If your team processes regular outbound USDT on Tron, the operational benefit is straightforward. No per wallet TRX distribution, no exposure to TRX price movements, and no manual resource acquisition. The gas station balance is manageable from the Utila console or via API, and configurable low balance alerts mean you won't run into funding gaps mid operation.

Gas Station also removes one of the friction points for teams that are new to Tron. Getting started on Tron typically requires sourcing and distributing TRX before any USDT transfers can run. With Gas Station, that step is gone. First deposit is covered by Utila to get you started, and from that point forward the only balance to manage is the gas station balance.

For engineering teams, the integration overhead is a single field on an existing API call. For finance and compliance teams, a single USDT-funded gas balance with per transfer cost breakdowns makes accounting clean and predictable.

“Utila handles the blockchain complexity so our team can focus on serving clients  across Latin America at scale. Gas management, wallet creation, transaction visibility, it all just works.”

Leandro Meneses, CEO of Mandioca

Getting Started

Gas Station is available now for all Utila vaults with USDT TRC-20 support. Enable it from your vault settings in the Utila console or via the API. Utila will provision a deposit address for your vault.
