Fireblocks’ entry-level contracts were highly priced. If you cannot generate meaningful business through the platform immediately, you can quickly find yourself underwater. Utila’s grow-together approach was therefore another key reason we chose the platform.

Key outcome Stable Mint gained using Utila

Stablecoin Infrastructure Built to Scale with the Business

Stable Mint uses Utila to govern higher-value mint, burn, and payout transactions. Its team configures transaction policies through the Utila platform and connects signing to its internal systems through APIs. Separate vaults hold operational stablecoin balances, while Utila wallets support the gas management required to execute transactions across multiple networks.

The company selected Utila over Fireblocks based on the policy management experience, the pace of the product roadmap, the level of service, and a commercial model better aligned with a growing business.

That pace of development has also strengthened Stable Mint’s multi-chain operations. As Utila has expanded its native network coverage, Stable Mint has gained a more consistent way to manage policies and signing across chains. The impact is already visible on Etherlink, where Utila’s native support improved transaction throughput.

About Stable Mint

Bringing Fiat Payments and Stablecoins into One Regulated Platform

Stable Mint is a vertically integrated European payments platform that combines fiat currencies and stablecoins within a single cross-border payment flow.

Its products cover three principal areas:

  • Checkout for collecting customer payments

  • Business accounts for holding and managing funds

  • Payouts to suppliers and other counterparties

Businesses can make first- and third-party payments using fiat currencies or stablecoins. Stable Mint supports currencies including USD, EUR, GBP and SEK, alongside its own USDSM and EURSM stablecoins. It also plans to support additional MiCA-compliant stablecoins for its customers.

Stable Mint operates as both a MiCA-authorised firm and a regulated payment services provider. Regulation forms a central part of how it approaches stablecoin issuance, customer accounts and cross-border payments.

The challenge Stable Mint was facing

Selecting a Provider Fit for the Startup Stage that Wouldn’t Hinder Future Growth

Stable Mint’s blockchain infrastructure evolved through several stages. The company initially used basic wallet tooling before moving to a specialist infrastructure provider as its stablecoin operations became more sophisticated.

When that provider unexpectedly ran out of funding and ceased operating, Stable Mint needed to migrate its mint, burn, and payout workflows to a new platform at short notice. The team needed to restore a dependable infrastructure setup quickly, but it did not want the urgency of the situation to result in another temporary solution.

The next provider needed to meet Stable Mint’s immediate technical requirements while remaining suitable for a growing company. This included:

  • Clear and flexible transaction policy configuration

  • API connectivity for integrating signing with Stable Mint’s platform

  • Native support across a growing number of blockchain networks

  • A product roadmap capable of keeping pace with new requirements

  • Direct access to customer success and product teams

  • Commercial terms that did not require a high upfront commitment before transaction volumes had developed

The commercial model was particularly important. Stable Mint wanted institutional infrastructure without taking on a contract designed for a much larger, more mature operation. Its provider needed to support the company at its current stage and allow usage and costs to develop alongside the business.

After surveying the market, Stable Mint narrowed the decision to Fireblocks and Utila.

The solution we delivered for Stable Mint

Why Stable Mint Chose Utila Over Fireblocks

Stable Mint compared Fireblocks and Utila across policy management, API connectivity, blockchain coverage, product development, support, and commercial structure.

The company ultimately selected Utila because its team found the policy configuration experience easier to manage, saw a faster pace of product development, and valued the level of direct service available. Utila’s commercial model was also better aligned with an early-stage company that wanted to adopt institutional infrastructure before generating substantial transaction volumes through it.

“As a startup, it is so important to have providers that can grow and scale with you. That grow-together approach was one of the key reasons we chose Utila.”

Policy-Controlled Mint, Burn, and Payout Operations

Stable Mint uses Utila to manage higher-value transactions across three core workflows:

  • Minting USDSM and EURSM

  • Burning stablecoins during redemptions

  • Executing stablecoin payouts

Stable Mint configures the policies governing these transactions through the Utila platform and initiates signing programmatically through APIs. This allows blockchain operations to remain connected to Stable Mint’s own products while its team retains centralized control over transaction governance.

Separate Infrastructure for Operational Balances

Stable Mint maintains stablecoins used for operational purposes in Utila vaults that are separate from those supporting mint and burn activity.

This separates on-balance-sheet assets used in day-to-day operations from wallets associated with stablecoin issuance and redemption. The different wallet groups can be administered according to their respective functions.

Gas Management Improving the Customer Experience

Stable Mint abstracts blockchain mechanics from its customers and manages the gas required for its transactions through Utila wallets. This keeps gas management within Stable Mint’s internal operations rather than exposing it as part of the customer experience.

Native Support Across Multiple Networks

Utila’s expanding native chain coverage gives Stable Mint a more consistent infrastructure layer for wallet management, transaction signing, and policy administration across networks.

The impact is already visible on Etherlink. Stable Mint had experienced throughput limitations while operating without native infrastructure support for the network. After Utila introduced native Etherlink support, transaction throughput improved.

“Utila’s expanding native support across a broad range of chains has strengthened our multi-chain operations. On Etherlink, the native integration delivered a clear improvement in transaction throughput.”

A Product Roadmap That Continues to Expand

Stable Mint’s decision was also influenced by the rate at which Utila was adding new capabilities and blockchain integrations.

Rather than selecting infrastructure solely for its existing functionality, Stable Mint wanted a provider capable of responding as its network coverage, stablecoin products, and operational requirements developed.

“The pace of product development has been a major advantage. Utila continues to add new functionality and native network support as our requirements evolve.”

High impact results Stable Mint experienced

A Partnership That Has Kept Pace with Stable Mint’s Growth

Stable Mint selected Utila while it was still building the foundations of its regulated stablecoin business. Since then, the company has grown into a larger and more established market participant without having to replace or outgrow the infrastructure chosen at an earlier stage.

As Stable Mint’s products, transaction flows, and multi-chain requirements have expanded, Utila has continued to add the capabilities needed to support them. New native network integrations, including Etherlink, have delivered measurable operational improvements, while the pace of the product roadmap has allowed Stable Mint to extend its infrastructure without introducing separate providers or fragmented workflows.

The partnership continues to deliver value beyond the original migration. Stable Mint has gained infrastructure that has remained suitable as the company matured, supported by a commercial model and working relationship designed to develop alongside the business.
